I started purchasing a mouton coat for the season in November.
I went shopping and visiting fairs and fainted at the prices. I switched to studying the assortment in online stores.
I liked the assortment of the Nika online store, I chose the M-58 model with a luxurious hood trimmed with mink.
But buying online is always buying a “pig in a poke.”
The store's promises were quite pleasant:
reasonable prices; order fulfillment time 5-7 days; free delivery in case of 100% prepayment; money back if the product is returned.
I checked my measurements with the size chart and ordered a fur coat in size 46.
The card number where I needed to transfer the money came to my email almost instantly, I transferred the money right away, the entire amount at once - I didn’t want to pay for delivery.
The order was placed on November 26, and from that day a two-month hassle began.
I will say right away that the site works simply disgracefully. I ordered a call back three times, never received a wait, I called myself.
I was simply shocked by some incomprehensible petty lie: they tell me that the fur coat is already ready, three days later they tell me that it is not ready; then they say that the fur coat has already been sent - a week later it turns out that it has just been sent... I don’t understand why they should mislead the customer, what is the deep meaning of this?
I waited for my fur coat for more than a month, I received it only on December 29th. And then another disappointment awaited me - the fur coat turned out to be tight in the chest area, narrow in the armhole. Even with a thin sweater, it’s simply impossible to move your arms in it, and you can’t wear a thicker sweater at all!
I took my measurements again, thinking that I had grown one size larger in a month - no, everything is fine with my sizes, nothing has changed.
I must say that there are no complaints about the quality of tailoring of the product. The fur is excellent, the skins are chosen perfectly, the mink on the hood is simply wonderful, the lining is made of dense material.
But... the fur coat is so thin, no thicker than a terry robe. The belt is made of such an incredible length that it needs to be tied with a bow so that it does not hang below the hem, and this is problematic - the belt is made of rather thick suede.
Since the fur coat was clearly too small, I immediately sent it back. The parcel was valued at the full cost of the product - 25,000 rubles, so that it would not be lost in the mail.
It turns out that losses do happen - I heard this information from my manager over the phone, and it’s not surprising, because the parcel with a fur coat that came to me from the factory had no declared value at all... very strange.
Over the phone with the manager, we discussed the reasons for the return, then I heard a question that puzzled me: “Did you take measurements for your underwear?” How should you take measurements? Wear a thick sweater?
I received my 1st category seamstress qualifications while I was still at school - we were then studying at the same time at the Training and Production Plant and receiving a specialty.
I also remember from the training course that measurements for sewing products are always taken for underwear, and when creating a pattern, allowances are made for a loose fit, depending on what kind of product is being sewn, a dress or a fur coat.
But you never know what could have changed in the standards in 30 years... I went to the nearest studio to a cutter who repairs and sews outerwear, and asked again. The cutter confirmed my assumptions.
I found further confirmation of my thoughts when I tried on my daughter’s fur coat, bought more than 10 years ago. By the way, the fur coat was also made by the Pyatigorsk factory. According to the marking, size 46.
So, I “fit” into this fur coat just perfectly, and under it I could wear a sweater even thicker - it’s loose in the armhole, it doesn’t squeeze anywhere, it’s comfortable:
So there is clearly something wrong with the size range at the factory.
So, let's sum up the disappointing results:
Expectations:
comfortable, beautiful, inexpensive fur coat, which I receive within a couple of weeks (maximum!) after ordering.
Reality:
a month of waiting, with a constant reminder to the store managers that I was still waiting for my order; listening to constant petty lies; the fur coat did not fit; I also waited almost a month for a refund; the total cost of my expenses: 250 rubles. — commission for transferring money, 100 rubles. - postal packaging, 1300 - postal delivery, total 1650 rubles.
Apparently, I paid this amount for a tiny box of a “sweet gift” that was included in the parcel with a fur coat. These sweets cost me quite a bit...
In general, I wish both the factory and the online store every prosperity, because the idea itself is a good one.
But the execution is very lame, there is something to work on...
Personally, I will only buy a fur coat where I can try it on right away, so as not to buy a “pig in a poke” again...
