Fur coats made from kangaroo fur relatively recently began to appear on the Russian market. Such products have risen to the peak of fashion in Europe, and now every fashionista strives to be in trend. Kangaroo fur coats mainly attract young people. The products in appearance resemble sheared mink fur, and in terms of heat resistance they are somewhat cooler than other fur coats. At the same time, as reviews show, such models last a long time and reliably when worn.

Types of kangaroo fur coats
Fur coats made from the fur of this exotic animal are presented in a wide range of types, models and styles. The natural features of such fur give the products a peculiar “glossy” and silky feel, similar to mink fur. The fur, although classified as short-haired, looks quite thick. The height of the fibers is usually from 0.5 to 1 cm. In addition to the fact that kangaroo fur is plush and thick, it is also very wearable. All this allows the products to remain in trend for many seasons in a row.
Light short fur coat
Types of kangaroo fur coats are divided into:
- method of processing skins;
- sewing methods and technologies;
- size.
Properties of fur
Alas, there are no GOSTs that describe the material under consideration in detail and truthfully in the CIS. I had to sift through a huge number of forums and rely on reviews. It turned out that the products made from kangaroo skins are soft to the touch, like plush. The fur can be described as thick and is often compared to sheared mink and pony.
Pile length ≈ 0.5 cm. Hairs can be cut, plucked, subjected to laser and other types of processing.
The natural color of most skins is light red, but options are possible:
- brown;
- brown;
- piebald (with large spots);
- grey.
Finished products are usually tinted black or tiger/leopard.
The approximate cost of kangaroo skin is $100/m2. To sew an average-length fur coat, 4-5 pieces are required, while the average price of an item fluctuates between 800-1000 USD.
Length
All types of kangaroo fur coats are divided according to the length of the product:
- to the floor;
- average;
- short.
Fashionable fur coats are often decorated with a collar made of fox, arctic fox, or mink, because kangaroo fur is short-haired. Mid-length models are always in trend, as can be seen in the photo. A variety of finishes are used by designers on both floor-length fur coats and short jackets.

Kangaroo leather - for true connoisseurs...
Kangaroo skins are tanned and sold, the meat is eaten - every part of the kangaroo is used, if possible, for sale on the secondary market, just as any traditional pig, cow or sheep farm tries to turn every by-product into something useful.
Kangaroo leather is popular among Italian and American manufacturers of sports equipment such as golf bags or shoes, especially sneakers.
Kangaroo leather sneakers
Australian farmers and bushmen have been weaving wonderful belts from kangaroo skin for several generations. Hamag's hand-woven belts and Bands are known for their durability and have been used by many consumers for many years.
Kangaroo skins are obtained from the wild, but kangaroos are not captured just to make a product from their skin. These animals themselves and the production of products from them are strictly protected by the Australian government.
Please note that all kangaroo products sold must have appropriate approvals from Australian kangaroo control authorities in accordance with current control practices. The Australian Federal Government controls the supply of Australian leathers such as crocodile, kangaroo and some other local leathers.
Made from kangaroo leather, perhaps the most stylish leather in the world, wallets are thinner than traditional leather wallets. The strong, dense fiber structure of kangaroo leather provides four times the tensile strength and three times the abrasion resistance of cowhide or suede, allowing it to be a quarter thinner than its counterparts without sacrificing durability and comfortable storage of money and documents. .
Yes, that's exactly what you're thinking. This lovely little leather pouch has a name and never before has a product name said it so well.
The Legend of Kangaroo Wallet: Once upon a time there lived an Aboriginal boy in the center of Australia. One day he saw a small kangaroo in the bushes, caught it by the tail and made a wallet out of its little symbol of masculinity. He gave it to his girlfriend and she kept all her seeds and berries in it. Then he saw a large kangaroo, caught it with a spear and made another purse with its thick symbol of manhood and gave it to his father, who kept stones and valuables in it. Since then, purses made from the scrotum of a male kangaroo have become popular among the Aborigines. For women it is soft and flexible; for men – strong, durable and wrinkled. They became important as a symbol of one's own masculinity and were recognized as bringing good luck. This is why kangaroo scrotum purses are called "Lucky Bags" or good luck bags.
Sewing technology
The properties of the fur of this exotic animal have a good effect on the technology of sewing products. The skins are large, which means there are few seams on the fur coat.
Among the sewing methods are the following:
- skin to skin (it is also called one-piece, since the product is sewn from whole skins);
- stitching (strips of leather are sewn between strips of skins);
- into dissolution (the skin is cut into diagonal strips 0.4 to 6 cm wide, and then stitched so that the joints are not noticeable on the fur coat);
- from pieces (small pieces of skins are adjusted on a computer and stitched, which allows you to give the product a fashionable shine).
Designers use different finishes for products made from Australian animal skin. For example, a men's kangaroo fur coat is decorated with a fox collar. And for female models, cuffs and collars made of silver fox, arctic fox, and red fox remain trendy.

Kangaroos of Australia: problems and opportunities
Kangaroos are members of the order macropod, which literally means "big foot", which includes wallabies, kangaroos and their close relatives. The main difference between wallabies and kangaroos is the size of their legs. This is the only large herbivorous marsupial capable of jumping long distances without stopping. The kangaroo has absolutely no odor at any stage of its life.
Kangaroos live only in Australia and nowhere else in the world. These animals feel very good there and even have the habit of reproducing quite prolifically, which threatens the existence of their entire species due to overpopulation, because the amount of food for them does not have time to grow at the same rate as their population. Therefore, the Australian government has introduced special programs to regulate the number of kangaroos by artificially reducing their numbers. Eastern Grays and Western Reds are the only two kangaroo species excluded from this program.
As part of a population control program, millions of kangaroos are killed in Australia every year. As a rule, they shoot at night, away from large cities, under spotlights aimed at their heads. Despite the fact that the Australian government requires hunters who shoot animals to kill animals as humanely as possible, that their victims be decapitated in a manner “to destroy the brain,” these methods are considered by many to be cruel. Soccer star David Beckham switched to synthetic shoes in 2006, and Adidas stopped using kangaroo leather in its shoes in 2012.
Popular models
Models of kangaroo fur coats remain fashionable for many seasons. The characteristics of the skin of an animal from Australia influence the models of fur coats. The low elasticity of large-sized skins affects the straight silhouettes of the products.
Among the models are:
- butterfly (loose fit and wide sleeves);
- bat (similar cut, but shorter length);
- fitted (rare models for such fur coats);
- with and without a belt;
- shirt (short styles);
- unusual models.
Extravagant options have complex styles with frills, collars, lace, as presented in catalogs. Designers take into account all the most sophisticated and fashionable trends in their models.
According to fashionistas, the following styles have remained trendy for many seasons:
- autolady (fur coat length to the waist or slightly lower, short sleeves, maybe a collar or hood, straight cut);
- coat (midi length, trapezoidal cut);
- French (classic model of straight shape, can be with a belt, as well as slits on the sides);
- coat (the product looks like a trapezoidal jacket);
- bell (knee length with flared hem).
Men's kangaroo fur coats are often presented in catalogs in the classic style:
- with hoods;
- fur coats:
- short fur coats;
- middle length;
- bombers.
Men's fur coats are decorated with pockets, stand-up collars, and fur collars.
A wide range of fur products made from kangaroo skin allows you to satisfy the most popular tastes of fashionistas and fashionistas. And reliability and durability will make such a fur coat a highlight of your wardrobe for many seasons.
Rare types of fur coats - unique models in 50 photos!
Rare types include products that are not in wide demand. This can happen for several reasons. Either the fur from which the fur coat is made does not have sufficient quality characteristics combined with a high price, or there are certain difficulties in obtaining raw materials for the manufacture of such products. For example, an animal is rare or its habitat makes the process of catching it difficult and time-consuming.
However, products from such types of fur are produced; the collections include a sufficient number of models to satisfy the most demanding customers. There are even companies that specialize in sewing products from rare types of fur. Often such fur coats are sewn to order.
Fashionable marten fur coats
Marten fur has been known in our country for quite some time. The skins of this animal were highly valued for its remarkable qualities and beauty. Until now, marten fur is considered one of the most beautiful. An attempt to breed martens in captivity ended in failure, so only wild breeds are used for clothing. There are three types of martens: soft, wheatear and Japanese. The soft marten has fluffy fur that is dark brown, beige or yellowish in color. Usually lives in trees.
Wheatear fur is valued above all others due to its thickness and special softness. This species lives in rocky areas, sometimes in the ruins of buildings.
A stylish beige marten fur coat, mid-thigh length, with short sleeves, goes well with a white shirt, a tight-fitting black skirt and high-heeled boots, the color of coffee with milk.

A luxurious marten fur coat, beige, above the knee length, straight cut, will create a magnificent look in combination with an indigo suit, consisting of a blouse and high-waist trousers, loose fit. A red hat and black bag will complete the silhouette.
A fashionable peach-colored marten fur coat, collarless, mid-thigh length, is well complemented by a gray sweater, cropped dark blue jeans with scuffs and low platform shoes with laces.
A marten fur coat, dark brown, fitted, knee-length, with short sleeves, goes perfectly with high boots in a light brown shade, a clutch to match the shoes and a classic gray hat.
The fur of the Japanese marten is almost impossible to dye, so it is the least in demand. Products from it are rarely made.
Marten fur is often combined with sable fur. These animals belong to the same species, so their fur is quite similar. In addition, marten fur harmonizes well with mink and astrakhan fur. Leather inserts are popular. Such combinations make a marten fur coat even more beautiful, unobtrusively emphasizing the beauty and nobility of the fur.
Sheepskin coat options
Sheepskin - once a fairly popular fur, is now not so popular in its original form. Once upon a time, peasants wore sheepskin sheepskin coats; it was very warm and cheap clothing.
Now sheep fur is subjected to special processing, resulting in fur that is very popular with customers, which everyone is accustomed to calling mouton. A great variety of fur coat models are made from this fur, as they are in demand for their beauty, excellent quality characteristics and low price.
A short light gray sheepskin fur coat with a stand-up collar and straight cut is well complemented by an elongated shirt with a bright geometric print, a short blue skirt and gray sandals with wide heels and a platform.

Sheepskin in the form in which it was previously produced is now practically not used. In its modern form, a sheepskin coat is most often a sheepskin coat, which turns out to be quite beautiful in appearance and has a very good heat-retaining ability. This sheepskin coat will keep you warm in frosty weather.
But even with the low price of such products, they are not very popular. The fact is that sheepskin has quite a noticeable weight, so not many fashionistas can wear such a sheepskin coat. However, lovers of just such clothes can find a suitable model for themselves.

Wolf fur coats: stylish models
Coats made from wolf or coyote fur have a rare heat-retaining ability. This fur has a very thick and dense undercoat and long guard hairs that repel water. Therefore, a wolf fur coat protects not only from cold, but also from dampness.
However, the core of this fur is very dense, so its dressing is more complex and not every craftsman will undertake it. And it is precisely this circumstance that makes products made from this fur not so popular. However, designers do not give up on it and create quite beautiful models. One of their advantages is the price, which is relatively low.
A luxurious short wolf fur coat for men, in a natural color, straight cut, with a hood, will look good in combination with a light gray sweater, brown leather trousers, a loose fit and fur boots.

When sewing products, the popular horizontal layout of skins has recently been increasingly used. Quite a variety of models are produced, mostly short. Often, for lightening purposes, leather inserts are used, sometimes quite wide.

Variety of llama coats
The long fluffy fur of llamas is often used to make fur coats. Despite the apparent decorative nature of such models, they are quite warm and you can safely walk in them on a frosty day. This fur is not capricious, it is easy to care for and, moreover, it is not at all afraid of water. If the fur coat suddenly gets wet in the rain or sleet, the fur curls into tight spirals. The result is a rather stylish and playful look. After drying, the fur can be combed and it will become fluffy again.
Llama fur coats are quite varied. Most often, short models are found, since this fur is voluminous and a long model will look very bulky. Models with a hood are not uncommon.

Types of otter coats
The otter is a small aquatic animal, so products made from its fur will not get wet in the rain, and the fur itself will not be damaged by water. Thanks to these characteristics, otter fur coats are quite in demand. The product is not cheap, since the extraction of otters is complicated by its slow reproduction. It is worth noting that otter fur is the most wear-resistant. A fur coat made from it can be safely worn for 20 seasons.
The natural colors of fur are quite varied - from dark to light beige. Products made from dark fur are the most popular. Often the manufacturer dyes the fur, giving it darker shades.

Styles of kangaroo fur coats
Fur coats made from such an exotic animal as kangaroo appeared in our country relatively recently - just a couple of years ago. These products are just beginning to conquer the Russian market, although 100 years ago they were very popular. This short-haired fur has quite decent characteristics and, contrary to expectations, can withstand quite low temperatures. It's nice and thick. According to designers, it perfectly emphasizes individuality. About 10 years ago in Italy, kangaroo fur was recognized as the best fur of the year.
Kangaroo fur is most often dyed black. There are exotic colors - imitation of leopard or tiger. A kangaroo fur coat looks good in combination with other types, for example, silver fox or arctic fox fur.

Fur coats made of leopard, jungle cat and ocelot
The leopard, jungle cat and ocelot are felines. The leopard is an endangered animal listed in the Red Book. In Russia it lives in the Far Eastern region. In African countries, their numbers sometimes reach large sizes, in which case the hunting of this animal is allowed within a certain quota.
Leopard fur coats are valued for their beautiful print, which many fashionistas love. It is noteworthy that the same arrangement of spots does not exist on different animals. Each animal has its own original pattern.
A reed cat fur coat, mid-thigh length, straight cut, with a collar, goes well with a blue and white striped shirt, tight black trousers and high marsh-colored rubber boots.

A leopard fur coat, mid-thigh length, flared cut, with three-quarter sleeves, goes perfectly with black tight-fitting trousers, heels with a golden narrow toe and a black backpack.
Leopard print coats are highly prized. The cost of one skin can reach several thousand dollars. This is due, first of all, to the fashion for exotic furs and the problematic prey of leopards.
The jungle cat lives near bodies of water; its fur has a very interesting pattern and is thick and velvety. A jungle cat fur coat turns out to be very warm and soft.

Ocelot is a type of wild cat, another name is dwarf leopard. Indeed, its coloring is very similar to leopard print, the same small spots on a light brown background. An ocelot fur coat has good quality characteristics and retains its appearance for a long time. Various products are made from ocelot fur: fur coats, coats, vests.

Features of tsigeika fur coats
Tsigeyka is the name given to shorn and dyed sheepskin from the Tsigey breed of sheep. Some experts argue that this is an outdated name for mouton. Previously, in Soviet times, sheepskin was made using the same technology that is now used in the production of mouton. Tsigeika fur coats were very popular in the middle of the last century, not only in our country, but also abroad. Both our grandmothers and Hollywood stars wore them.
A fur coat made of tsigeya, length above the knees, light brown in color, semi-fitted silhouette, is well complemented by a blue T-shirt with short sleeves, white skinny trousers and white high-heeled pumps.
A short fur coat made of tsigeya, peach-colored, with a collar goes well with a dress of a light pink tone, a fitted cut with a belt and pumps with heels, a soft peach shade, decorated with rhinestones.
Tsigeika was produced from the Tsigei breed of sheep. Now in our country it has practically disappeared, so it is very rare to find products made from real tsigeyka. Mouton products are made from imported raw materials, and this is the main difference between tsigeika and mouton. The technologies used in processing sheepskin are used only in our country, since it contains formaldehyde, which is considered a harmful substance in other countries.
A fur coat made of tsigeya, dark brown, mid-thigh length, flared cut, with a collar, looks good with black tight-fitting trousers, lace-up boots, without heels, a black bag and a knitted hat.
A white sheepskin fur coat, mid-thigh length, straight silhouette, without a collar, goes well with a gray sweater, skinny trousers the color of wet asphalt, low ankle boots with thin heels and a black leather bag.
A fur coat made of tsigeya, dark brown in color, above the knees, with a collar, decorated, and a belt will make a harmonious ensemble with beige trousers, lace-up shoes and a voluminous bag in a light brown tone.
A maroon-colored tiger fur coat, above the knee length, straight cut, with a collar and pockets from the collection of the Tommy Hilfiger fashion house, combined with beige ankle boots and a knitted hat from Tommy Hilfiger.
An original ankle-length brown fur coat from the new season collection from Undercover harmonizes perfectly with a light blue sweater, white trousers with brown lapels and red shoes from Undercover.
A tan fur coat, dark brown in color, with a red fur lining, mid-thigh length, with a collar from the Zadig & Voltaire collection, combined with a black cocktail dress, with an asymmetrical hem and lace-up boots from Zadig & Voltaire.
Tsigeika has remarkable characteristics: it not only warms you better in cold weather than many furs, but also has a fairly long service life. In addition, it is hypoallergenic.
With the help of a sheepskin fur coat, a small hat and short boots, you will get a cute and kind look in a retro style.

Kangaroo leather is one of the most durable leathers.
In their quest to survive the harsh Australian environment, kangaroos have developed unique characteristics, including their skin. Despite its lightness and softness, their skin has extraordinary strength and durability. Its dense fibrous structure makes it two to three times more durable than regular leather.
The fibers of kangaroo leather run in a horizontal plane, unlike bovine leather, the fibers of which have a more vertical structure, thereby giving the former additional strength and high abrasion resistance. This fiber structure and the specific tannins used specifically for kangaroo hide give it a natural resistance to water absorption.
Vegetable tanning of kangaroo hides also allows the leather to increase approximately four times the tensile strength of cow leather. A lace cut from kangaroo leather will retain its rectangular cross-section when stretched, while laces cut from cow or calf hide will curl so that the grain side of the lace becomes concave. This property of kangaroo leather makes it a better choice for fine braiding.
Kangaroo hides come in three weights: light (up to 0.8 mm thick) - suitable for fine weaving, medium (about 0.8 mm) - suitable for belts and horse tack, and heavy (about 1.00 mm) - suitable for belts , heavy equipment and whips.
In addition, kangaroo hides contain much less fat than traditional bull/sheep etc. hides and therefore require much less degreasing than alternative leathers. Consequently, the physical properties of kangaroo leather are not damaged during tanning.
Kangaroo leather can be of several types of finish:
NAVY PRINTED finish is achieved by embossing smooth kangaroo nappa leather. This effect is a consequence of uniform printing of various elements and makes kangaroo leather even more resistant to various scratches. Softness and a delightful tactile sensation are not compromised by achieving this effect, but this finish is ideal for wallets, bags, accessories, magazine wraps and pens and other products. NAPPA kangaroo is a smooth, uniform leather with a final finish. Some of the grains of genuine leather may be visible and no existing leather resembles it. It is a lightweight, soft material yet incredibly durable, making it ideal for a wide range of products. This beautiful material is used to make our belts, wallets, bags, accessories, magazine and pen cords, and other products. ANTIQUE KANGAROO NAPPA is a unique finish to textured kangaroo leather. It retains all the features of this extraordinary material (softness, lightness, strength) but at the same time offers a look that is authentic to Australia. Wallets, bags, covers and other products look great in this contrasting, grainy, soft material.
Each kangaroo leather product has different leather patterns and is unique. It looks slightly worn and weathered. Kangaroo leather bears little resemblance to calfskin and should not be cleaned or treated with the same products as calfskin.
The Australian drought has affected both the size and availability of high quality hides, and the sizes of hides currently available on the market are trending towards the lower end of the possible range.
