On Blackglama advertising posters from different periods you can see Sophia Loren and Elizabeth Taylor, Liza Minnelli and Audrey Hepburn, Naomi Campbell and Cindy Crawford, Janet Jackson and Cher. By the way, the brand itself is almost 80 years old: the first elegant fur coats were made back in 1941 - and since then they have been considered a real standard in the world of fur fashion . The dream of most representatives of the fair sex who want to look truly sophisticated and elegant. Blackglama mink fur has very short, but soft, literally silky, guard hairs. The underfur is thick, rich black. In the rays of the sun or under artificial lighting, it shimmers with different facets: from silver to brown. No other fur has such a spectacular play of color. In addition, Blackglama mink skins have high plasticity. Therefore, the cut of the fur coat can be absolutely any - depending on the customer’s preferences.

What you need for work

In our case, we choose the simplest way to make a knitted fur coat - weaving fur into a pre-made mesh . To do this we need:

  • pattern;
  • cotton yarn to match the fur;
  • thick hook;
  • rabbit fur (pre-wash and dry);
  • thick needle and thread for sewing fur strips.

If there is not much fur, we recommend choosing one-sided weaving. It is more economical, although less fluffy, than double-sided.

Rabbit fur coats: the basics of a harmonious look in 50 photos

Rabbit fur is as good as the rest. It is just as soft to the touch and keeps you warm in winter. The big advantage of fur coats made from this fur is their affordability. Why deny yourself the pleasure of purchasing a fur coat now, and wait until you have enough money to buy a fur coat made from mink or other valuable furry animal.

A rabbit fur coat is less demanding to care for than a mink or, especially, a chinchilla. Similar products look almost the same, but rabbit fur coats have an unlimited number of styles and models. Easy to care for, moderate in price, practical to wear, a rabbit fur coat will be an excellent purchase. A variety of colors and models of different styles will allow every woman to find something that suits her taste and requirements.

Rabbit fur coats: fashionable styles

Easy to work with, rabbit fur allows designers to realize their dreams and meet the expectations of customers. Every woman will find a model that suits her figure. The length of the product is also presented in all possible options.

Mostly rabbit fur coats, photos of which are posted on our website, are presented in models up to mid-thigh length. This product will be practical in the cold season. Rabbit fur coats are intended for everyday wear, which determines their styles.

Fur coats are mainly divided into two categories: with and without a hood. The second group, as a rule, has a stand-up collar to protect the neck from the cold. The advantage of the first category is the solution to the problem with a headdress due to the hood.

A classic rabbit fur coat, white, semi-fitted, collarless, goes well with a tight-fitting blue dress, knee-length and low-heeled sandals to match the dress, decorated with bows.

Medium length models are all equipped with a belt. He also sewed them with rabbit fur. But the fur coat itself is cut and sewn in such a way that you can dispense with the belt or wear it from time to time. So, with the help of a belt you can slightly change your usual appearance.

Often the collar of a fur coat is trimmed with more expensive fur. This places accents on the appearance of the product and adds a touch of sophistication. Mink fur is most often used, which looks very harmonious with a rabbit.

Jackets made of rabbit fur or coats are considered more sophisticated models. Fur coats made from sheared rabbit are as warm as those made from normal-length fur, but they look more sophisticated and the sewing style is more reminiscent of a demi-season coat.

Length and color of rabbit fur coats

The main quality of a rabbit fur coat is practicality. It is she who dictates the rules regarding the length of the product. For everyday wear with changeable winter weather, possible dirt underfoot and the need to travel in public transport, a long fur coat would be the wrong solution. Therefore, the optimal length is considered to be a hem that reaches the knee or slightly covers the knees. This way the hem does not get dirty and does not come into contact with the leather of the boots. After all, from constant friction the fur will be damaged and fall out.

Those who like minimal length will also be able to find what they want. Many fur collections of rabbit fur coats have models of sheepskin coats and short winter jackets that look great with skinny trousers and high-waisted jeans. As a rule, they are in demand among young people.

As for colors, things are even better here. Easy to dye, rabbit fur can be any color you want. But it’s still better to choose natural colors.

Most of the products are made from Rex rabbit fur. The Rex fur coat will be black with a characteristic bluish tint. From a distance or for someone inexperienced in the matter of fur, it is easy to confuse rex and mink fur. After all, they have the same color and shine.

But, as a rule, the colors of the product are combined. Therefore, monochromatic options are rather an exception to the rule. The market for rabbit fur coats is represented by all sorts of shades of gray, sometimes transitioning to black, sometimes to the color of steel, or silver, like light gray hair.

How and with what to wear a rabbit fur coat?

Fashion rules apply to all clothing. For the last few seasons, leather has been at the forefront of fashion rules. Therefore, winter clothing designers dictate the rules for combining fur and leather. Rabbit fur is well suited for these purposes. He is not so afraid of the interaction of lint with skin and most fur coats from the new collections come in combination with a leather belt. The width of the belt is 6-7 cm, but it is wrapped around the waist several times and tied in front with a large knot, so that the ends fall freely and are at least 10 cm long.

Accessories for such white and black beauty are selected taking into account the black belt. Gloves, boots and handbag will be the same color. But the headdress can be white. It will be better than the black version, and it will look much more optimistic.

Shoes and gloves can be matched with a black fur coat in several colors. With their help, you can revive the image and add light colors to it. It is better not to apply the principle of contrast, but choosing gray instead of black would be quite appropriate.

A short rabbit fur coat, light gray in color, without a collar, will be perfectly complemented by a gray T-shirt, skinny blue-gray jeans, brown boots with low wide heels and a classic hat with a small brim.

The shoe option for a fur coat is selected based on one’s own preferences and in accordance with the requirements of clothing style. Rabbit coats do not have strict rules regarding footwear like mink coats or chinchilla coats. The main thing here is to keep the entire look in the same style and combine elements of clothing and shoes by color. Although high boots and a fur coat have always looked charming and are already considered a classic combination in clothing.

Accessories for a rabbit fur coat

Lovers of animal prints should also pay attention to a rabbit fur coat. Beautiful models with black spots on a white background resemble the coloration of a leopard, but not as colorful as in nature. And most importantly, the fur is natural and will last longer than the piece version dyed with brown spots.

By the way, spotted scarves go perfectly with black items. They are made in dark colors, but make the black fur coat more lively and colorful. This accessory plays the role of the final accent in creating a winter look.

The presence of a belt has already been mentioned. But the leather belt is included in the style and it is impossible to refuse it. In other models, the decision to wear a belt is made solely by the owner.

Then it can easily be replaced with a regular wide belt with a metal figured clasp in the front. A butterfly clasp is often chosen. Easy to fasten, holds securely and looks great against the backdrop of black shiny fur.

The main accessories of rabbit fur coats are scarves, belts, belts made of various materials or of various lengths. The combination of scarves with fur of different colors and patterns complements or enlivens the color of the product.

An original rabbit fur coat, gray, with separate sleeves, dark gray, fitted cut, with a drawstring at the waist, knee length, will make an excellent look with a black shirt with short sleeves and a white collar and with skinny blue jeans. There is no need to give up the shoulder strap. Rabbit fur allows you to carry the bag on your shoulder like you did before.

Rules for choosing and caring for a rabbit fur coat

The moderate price of a rabbit fur coat should not scare buyers. It does not determine the quality of the product. The low price is explained by the high prevalence of rabbits and the relative ease of their breeding.

The pile of rabbit fur feels like silk. Thin fur warms well. But the thin flesh has its own threshold of cold. The fur of Rex rabbits is characterized by the highest quality. Dyeing fur also does not affect its quality.

An original black rabbit fur coat, flared cut, with a hood and stylish clasps from the Dennis Basso collection, combined with an elegant dress, below the knee length and coral platform shoes from Dennis Basso.

Short fur coat in black rabbit, with elasticated waist and cuffs, with a hood from the new season collection from Philipp Plein, combined with a short top in wet asphalt color and shiny loose-fitting trousers from Philipp Plein.

A fur coat can only last fully for 2 seasons. Fur loves space and frequent interaction with boots or street stones will not have the best effect.

Products should be stored in a fabric case. But the fabric must be natural. This will protect the fur from pests, but will allow it to breathe. Synthetics should be strictly excluded. But aerosol treatment is allowed, which protects against insect pests.

The fur coat must be ventilated, but this can only be done in a darkened room with a low temperature. Rabbit fur does not like direct light and heat. It is good to humidify the air in the closet where the rabbit hangs. To do this, it is enough to put a cup of water in the cupboard from time to time.

A snow-white short fur coat made of rabbit, a semi-fitted silhouette, with a collar and three-quarter sleeves, will make a magnificent ensemble with a tight-fitting dress in a light gray shade and high stiletto boots a tone darker than the dress.

A fashionable rabbit fur coat, gray, semi-fitted, knee-length, collarless, will look great with an original short dress with straps and high-heeled sandals with a khaki print.

Dry the fur at room temperature. And the pile is restored to its original state by shaking. It is also good to periodically comb the fur, thereby straightening it.

There is a little secret to keeping fur white. It consists of pre-treating the storage case with a bluing composition. After complete drying, the blue will not stain the fur, but will not allow it to quickly lose its whiteness.

The quality of the fur is determined, as in other cases, by stroking against the nap, checking whether it falls into place and whether there are no lint left in the hand. An unpleasant odor is also a sign of poor quality.

How to make a knitted rabbit fur coat with your own hands: a step-by-step guide

We offer a guide for making a woven fur coat, oriented towards size 48.

Using the pattern, we crochet the net. The option of knitting on the side is possible, as in our case, whichever is more convenient for you.

Reference!

Abbreviations: “st/n” – double crochet, “st/b/n” – single crochet, “r” – row.

Sleeves:

  1. Cast on 59 stitches. Perform 59 st/s/n - and then do this for 5 r.
  2. Add to the next 17 r: from the end and from the beginning of the r - 1 st/s/n.
  3. Then there is no need to add two r. Then we decrease in 17 rows (at the end of each p we decrease, but at the beginning we do not knit 1 column). And 5 rows of sc/b/n without decreases.
  4. We make markings on the back side of the fur - divide it into strips 1 cm wide. If the pile of the fur is long, then you can cut it even narrower. Let's number them. The numbering should be on one side to control the direction of the fur. The stripes are used alternately, but the direction of the fur on them must match.
  5. We cut fur ribbons , but not all at once, but as we use them. We do this by weight, otherwise the pile will be cut off.
  6. We hook a pin to the edge of the strip and thread it into the mesh. The stripes are arranged from top to bottom. We leave the edges of the strips unsewn for now, in case correction is necessary (pull or stretch the part).
  7. After pulling the strip, use a needle to lift the pile from under the mesh threads .

We perform the second sleeve in the same way.
Back:

On a note!

We make the back from 2 halves, so that in case of errors in size it is possible to unravel and remake the part.

  1. Cast on 51 stitches. Work st/s/n row 1.
  2. For the armhole in the next ten rows, add 1 dc/n at the end of the row.
  3. For the shoulder, add 21 air loops, of which knit 21 st/s/n.
  4. Add 1 stitch/s/n at the end of the row on the front side. Again 10 rows.
  5. We knit the neckline: 5 rows with decreases of 1 st/s/n in the front rows, then 5 rows without decreases.

We do the second half of the back in the same way. We wash the mesh and dry it.

We braid the back with fur ribbons. Sew both back pieces together.

Shelf:

  1. Cast on 51 stitches. For the armhole, knit 10 r adding 1 dc/n at the end of each row.
  2. For the shoulder - 21 air loops. Knit 21 st/s/n. Next, add 1 st/s/n in each row at the end, make 10 r.

Neck:

  1. We do not knit 6 stitches on the shoulder in the last row at the end. Decrease 3 stitches in six rows.
  2. Sew the strips to the mesh.
  3. Sew all the parts together using a needle-forward stitch.

Hood:

  1. 51 air loops, and the same number of st/s/n.
  2. Then 10 rows with decreases of one stitch at the end of the front row and at the beginning of the purl row.
  3. The eleventh row is unchanged. Decreases on the other hand.
  4. Okat: decrease in the 12th, 16th and 20th rows - one dc/s/n each.
  5. We knit the bottom in a straight line without decreasing.
  6. Decrease the okat in the 22nd row, on the other side of the 22nd row we do not knit 5 stitches.
  7. Repeat the same in the 24th row. And in the 25th row make 13 dc/s/n.

We braid the hood. Sew it together. We sew on the edge, knitted with a mesh of 80 st/s/n (2 rows are enough), braided with strips of fur, perhaps even of a different color. We also braid the edge with fur. Sew the hood to the fur coat.

Cuffs : cast on 36 st/s/n 7 rows. Braid with fur.

Bottom : 120 st/s/n. Braid with fur ribbons. The number of rows as desired depends on the planned length of the fur coat.

The edges of the shelves: dial 74 st/s/n. Braid with fur.

Sew on the lining and fasteners.

Where can I get fur raw materials for sewing a mink coat?

This is the very first and most important question when sewing a fur product, whether in a factory or with your own hands. The main difference from the factory is the use of not only new purchased skins, but also “used” mink skins. You can collect from friends or buy old mink collars and hats that have gone out of fashion and lie uselessly in closets - their owners will be happy to get rid of them for a nominal price. You can also take an old fur vest or fur coat, rip them apart at the seams, renew the fur - and please sew your new mink beauty. Also, excellent mink models are obtained from waste, trimmings - those same paws, tails and other things.

Features of making a knitted rabbit fur coat

Listen to the advice of experienced needlewomen so that the work goes without incident.

  • To prevent the shoulders and armhole from stretching, it is recommended to sew a thin braid along their edges.
  • A fur strip sewn to its edge will help hide the uneven edges of the hood.
  • Trim or braid will also help to gather the seam between the hood and the finished product and prevent it from stretching.
  • To ensure that the fur coat is the right size, it is advisable to make a sample before starting work. Due to the fact that the base is knitted, it may stretch and be larger than the planned size.
  • Well, for convenience, don’t forget about the inside pocket; think about this when making the lining.

And now you can make such a beautiful and versatile thing with your own hands. Good luck in job!

How to choose a fur coat from a mouton

How it's done: process

After you have prepared the mink skins, you select the fur by color and texture: the pile should lie in one direction, the skins should match each other in color. Then you sew the fur fabric, having previously secured the skins with pins, using a zigzag seam by hand. At the same time, two layers of fur are pierced with a needle, the thread is pulled in one direction, then in the other direction, then again at a distance of 2-3 mm (video). The stitches should be dense for the seam to be strong. Make sure that the pile does not get into the seam; straighten it to the front side with a needle. Then straighten the fabric and smooth the stitched seams. Attach it to the patterns, cut off the excess with a knife, and that’s it - the pattern is ready.

Next comes tailoring like any other clothing: the side and shoulder seams are sewn, the sleeves are sewn in, then the collar or hood is sewn on if the model has a hood. The lining is sewn in the same way. Then the sides are hemmed for the fastener and the neck is attached to the collar or hood. This seam is done by hand “over the edge”. Make sure the fur lays nicely on the lining. At the last stage, after fitting, the length of the product and sleeves is finally determined and both the skin itself and the lining are hemmed from the inside out. Sew on hooks or buttons. However, in the latter case, you will have to cut and process the buttonholes. That's it - your fur coat is ready.

How to sew a mink coat with your own hands with transverse stripes

Here is a unique and simple way to sew a mink model without any patterns, patterns or linings. Take that boring knitted sweater or jacket. Then cut the mink skins into strips 0.8 cm wide and sew them onto the blouse. All! Then you sew on a collar or make a fur coat with a hood, hem the bottom and sleeves. For these purposes, you can also use the fashionable technology of fur knitting instead of sewing stripes. Fur strips are passed through the structure of the fabric or knitted blouse (photo).

Such strips of mink skins, sewn onto a knitted sweater, are especially good when sewing a fur coat - do it yourself. You will receive the latest squeak of fashion - a short model of an autolady, playing with transverse stripes. After all, the fur in this position is especially shiny and shimmering.

When sewing with cross stripes in general, it is important to carefully select the skins, cutting them to the desired size so that the seam of the skins does not stand out too much. At the same time, the transverse arrangement of the skins makes it possible to select them that are not necessarily the same in color and thickness of the pile; on the contrary, you can alternate strips, which will further decorate the product. The main thing is that the principle of mirror symmetry in the direction of the pile is observed (photo). The strips are joined together using as thick a herringbone seam as possible. If you decide to sew a mink coat with transverse stripes yourself, we advise you to choose models that are not very long, since the sewing technology requires quite a lot of effort.

Real savings

There is no need to talk a lot about how much you will actually save by sewing a fur coat with your own hands or even ordering it from a master or atelier. Many women dream of an elegant and beautiful mink model, but not everyone can afford the prices. Using old mink products that have gone out of fashion, and even sewing it yourself, you will reduce the cost by at least ten times. And if you sew from specially purchased skins, then at least twice as much. Judge for yourself. The cost of one mink skin ranges from 2 to 6 thousand rubles, and the finished product - from 60 to 140 thousand rubles. While you can buy old mink hats or collars for a ridiculous price of 100-200 rubles. But the most important thing is that your model will be truly original and unique, because you sewed it yourself! So, a self-sewn mink coat is real, quite simple and very, very economical. Go for it, and you will succeed!
