Wolf fur is one of the warmest types of fur raw materials, but due to its similarity to the fur of a common dog, it has not gained popularity. This unfounded opinion of the majority is supported by the apparent simplicity and plainness of the fur. But based on the properties of its fur, a wolf can give a head start to almost any expensive and popular animal.
Wolf fur is one of the warmest
Appearance and color of wolf fur
Wolf fur has a fairly long spine and a hard, dense undercoat, reaching about half the length of the spine. The hair sits firmly in the flesh. The color of the skin has many shades, and depends on the specific type of wolf and the geographical location of the population from which the skins were taken. The color range ranges from sandy yellow to red, from snowy white to smoky gray and from dark gray to completely black. The most valuable are the pure white and black colors of wolf skin.

Animal skins
can be collected from dead animals. Tanning converts raw hides into processed leather and leather strips, which can then be used to create items in forges and improve them on grindstones and workbenches.
Hides are just one of several categories of items that can be obtained from hunting animals. See also:

Animal pelts, including leather and leather strips, are traded by blacksmiths (including quartermasters) and hunters found in the wilderness. Giants are also a good source of skins - you can get up to 3 skins from them, depending on the level of the player character.
Properties
Wolf fur has many advantages that were appreciated by our ancestors. Let's look at some of them.
Thermal conductivity.
In terms of its ability to retain heat, wolf fur is more than one and a half times superior to such raw materials as beaver and muskrat skins, known for their thermal insulation properties. That is, in clothes made of such fur, no frost is scary. The skins of northern wolves, which have the thickest underfur of the entire huge family, are especially good in this regard.
Moisture resistance.
Wolf fur has the property of repelling water, so clothes made from this material do not get wet. Even snow that falls on a wolf's skin does not melt thanks to this property. After a walk in the snow, you just need to shake off your outerwear and it will be dry.
Strength.
Wolf skin has a very strong inner core that is highly resistant to tearing and cutting stress. It is quite difficult to spoil this material, which served as a prerequisite for using this fur not only for the manufacture of jackets, fur coats and fur vests, but also for finishing shoes and the production of winter mittens and gloves.
Products made from wolf fur are among the warmest
Wear resistance.
In terms of wearability, wolf skins are not inferior to beavers and otters, whose fur in this regard is taken as the standard and is 100%. If handled with care, a wolf fur coat will retain its marketable appearance for more than five seasons, but the fur should be carefully monitored.
Medicinal properties.
Wolf fur, like the fur of any other member of the canine family, has medicinal properties. This is especially true for diseases of the musculoskeletal system: radiculitis, osteochondrosis, as well as kidney diseases. The fur of this animal contains surfactants, which provide a healing effect.
Price.
Another advantage for many may be the fact that a wolf fur coat will cost much less than clothing made from other popular types of fur, but its price does not say anything about the quality. As a rule, the quality of wolf fur products is very high.
The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt Quest In Wolf's Clothing
In wolf's clothing |
Location: Skellige Who gives the quest (task): Notice board Reward: 20 experience points + 85 crowns |
Where to find (on the map):
You can receive this task either by completing the quest A Man Missing, agreeing to deal with the Morkvarg after learning that he is very annoying to the priestesses of Freya, or you can find him yourself on the notice board in the village of Larvik, which is located on the island of Hindersfjall (Skellige). The ad is called “Order: Morkvarg” and it will say that for a whole year a monster has been desecrating the sacred grove of Freya, any brave man who can save the priestesses from this scourge will receive a generous reward, the author is Sister Yost.
It is best to complete this quest in parallel with the Nameless task, since you can “kill two birds with one stone”; it is simply much more convenient and faster.
First, you will need to talk to Yosta. If you took the task from the board, then you will have to find it in the Freya Temple. From her you can learn about the monster. It turns out that Morkvarg is a damned pirate who allowed himself to attack the priestesses of Freya and plunder the sanctuary. When he killed the main priestess of the temple named Ulwe, before her death she managed to curse the bandit and he turned into a monster who cannot leave the boundaries of the sacred grove and is forced to wander forever in a limited space.
First, you should talk to the only survivor of the attack on the temple, a pilgrim; you can find him in the port, not far from the village of Larvik. His name is Thordar, he is busy preparing the ship for an attack on the Nilfgaardians, but upon learning that you are interested in Morkvarg, he agrees to answer a couple of questions. By asking a question about what happened in the grove, you will learn the details of the attack. The damned bandit tied up the priestesses and began to cut their throats one by one, laughing wildly at the same time. Since he was the only witness to what happened, it means that it was his words that the priestess Yosta conveyed to you, that Ulwe cursed the Morkvarg and turned him into a beast, after which he tore all his people to pieces. At this stage, you will not be able to find out anything interesting from Tordar, so you can safely go to the sacred grove.
And so, having received the task in one of two ways, you should go to the sacred grove, where the Morkvarg lives. If you nevertheless decide to complete the quest in parallel with the Nameless task, then you will go to the grove in the company of Yennefer. At the main entrance to the grove, which is locked, you will first see a morkvarg who will try to devour something, apparently he failed, which is why he will begin to vomit (for what reason, you will find out later).
You can get into the grove using the right ladder, once on the wall you can jump down. You need to find traces of the monster at the main entrance, where you recently saw the morkvarg.
These traces will lead you to a bridge, after crossing which you will find many traces of a monster on the ground, which indicates that its lair is located nearby.
Climbing up using a makeshift staircase, you will find a continuation of the tracks.
Having followed the tracks a little further, Geralt will say that he cannot get further and will point to a mechanism located nearby, which in his opinion should help you get further.
At this point, you can use the mechanism to open the central passage through the channel below, or simply proceed to the beast's lair, where you can immediately meet the Morkvarg (By doing this, you will skip the meeting with the Morkvarg, in which he will tell you a short story which happened to him recently).
If you still decide to use the mechanism, then in order to get further, you will need to open the central gateway. In order to open it, you need to make sure that the block on the stand between the levers is in the central position. You can achieve this by lowering the right lever. Once the block is centered, press the left lever, this will open the central gateway.
Feel free to jump into the water and swim through the opened lock. Having climbed to the top, on the right you will find a house with a door knocked out by a beast, after searching it you will find the monster’s chewed-off paw in shackles.
When examining the paw, a werewolf - a morkvarg - will appear, and if you agree to listen to his story, you will learn that several warriors recently visited the grove in order to get rid of the morkvarg. Knowing that they could not kill him, they decided to chain him in this building, but he, not wanting to become a prisoner, made the only decision that allowed him to free himself from the shackles - to bite off his paw. While biting himself, he experienced terrible pain from the taste of his flesh (it is this phrase that hints at one of the ways to kill a Morkvarg). Having freed himself, he killed every warrior who attacked him.
After finishing his story, the morkvarg will attack you. You will have to fight the werewolf, but you will not be able to kill him completely yet. At the moment, you can only talk to the monster, who will ask the witcher to remove the curse from him, promising a significant reward for his help.
In order to find out about the Morkvarg’s curse and try to remove it, you need to select the phrase “Let’s see what we can do” when talking with him, otherwise you will only have to kill the monster with the help of his own flesh. Having completed the conversation, the Morkvarg will disappear in any case, leaving behind a small pile, after searching which you will find the quest item “Wolfwolf Meat”, which is needed to get rid of the Morkvarg.
The next thing you need to do is find the morkvarg again, this time (and all subsequent ones) you will be able to find the monster in its lair. When you enter it for the first time, you will witness a monster having a conversation with a skeleton, trying to find out information about some key from him. You will have to fight the beast again, but now you will have a choice that carries consequences in the quest:
1. Kill the Morkvarg - By selecting the “Feed the Morkvarg” option, it will be possible to feed the monster his own flesh, which is located in the tab with quest items and is called “Wolfwolf Meat” (this is what you recently picked up from the corpse of the first defeated Morkvarg). Having eaten his own flesh, the morkvarg will be finally defeated, since he is under the curse of hunger; eating his own flesh is an unacceptable condition. In this case, you will only have to receive a reward from the priestess, but you will not be able to receive a reward for removing the curse and fully understand what happened.
2. Remove the curse from the Morkvarg - the monster promised a reward if you remove the spell from it, so you can try to do this. But first you need to find out more about what happened in the grove. Morkvarg, in a conversation with the skeleton, mentioned some kind of key. Once in the monster's lair, you need to go downstairs, where, using your witcher senses, you can detect a small hole from which air is emanating, which indicates that there is something under the lair.
Where to find the key:
In order to find the key, you will need to use the mechanism that is located at the exit from the Morkvarg's lair. You need to open the right gateway, to do this, press the right lever until the bar on the panel between the levers points to the central indicator, then press the left lever. This will open the right airlock.
Having descended into the canal, you need to swim to the right lock, which you just opened, and dive under the water inside it. You will discover another hidden cave, at the end of which, in a pile of bones, you will find the very key that Morkvarg spoke about.
The key opens the doors in the central building; you can find it in the center of the grove near the tree. Having unlocked the left door inside the house, in the room you will find a chest with “Morkvarg’s Diary”, after reading which you will learn about the adventures of Morkvarg, and after reading the last entry in the diary, the truth will be revealed to you, in which Einar Thordar is not a pilgrim at all, but a pirate from Morkvarg’s squad .
Now you need to ask the liar Thordar about why he lied to you and what he knows about the curse. Returning to Tordar and telling him that you know who he is, several options for the development of events will be available to you, be careful in choosing phrases.
- I will be glad to meet you - you will immediately start a fight and kill Thordar, you will find a fang on his body, but you will not be able to use it, because you do not know what it is for.
- We don’t need to fight - this phrase will allow you to avoid battle, and subsequently find out that it was Thordar who cursed Morkvarg with the help of a wolf fang covered with runes, which his father gave him. In order to remove the curse, this fang must be given to Morkvarg. But Thordar simply won’t want to give the fang to the witcher, because he believes that he deserves his fate. You have learned everything you need to lift the curse and now you can decide the fate of Thordar.
- Do it for the sake of the priestesses - Thordar will give you the fang, having received a promise that you will not tell anyone the truth about who he really is. In this case, Thordar will remain alive.
- Give it back - You will have to fight Thordar and his people, searching Thordar’s corpse, you will find a fang on him and since you found out what it is for, you can remove the curse from the morkvarg.
In order to remove the curse from the Morkvarg, you will again need to return to his lair and defeat him. After which, in the dialogue with him, you will have a new line - “Give him Thordar’s fang”, this will remove the curse from the Morkvarg, whose only desire, after being freed from the spell, will be to get really drunk. You will again have a choice:
- I won’t allow you to do this - you will simply kill the disenchanted morkvarg without getting a hint of a reward from him.
- First, the reward - Morkvarg will hint to you about a moneylender in Novigrad, who, when you mention him, will give you a reward. At this stage, you can cheat, and having received the necessary information, simply finish off Morkvarg at the end of the conversation, simply by drawing a sword and attacking him. In this case, you will be able to receive a double reward.
All that remains is to tell Yosta about the completed order, and also, if you lifted the curse, get the sword from the moneylender in Novigrad.
Use of wolf fur
Wolf fur is used to sew any outerwear, and although it is not as popular as mink or fox, many fashion designers are increasingly paying attention to it. Fur coats, short fur coats, wolf fur jackets, fur vests and padded jackets - this is an incomplete list of wardrobe items that are made from this type of fur raw material.
Not only outerwear, but also hats are made from wolf fur.
Clothing made from wolf is created for practical people who value, first of all, the comfort and thermal conductivity properties of fur, and not glamorous shine and fashion trends. For those who live in the north, a wolf fur coat is simply an urgent necessity and is found in the wardrobe of every second resident. It is this that protects from the cold and high humidity of the coastal regions of the far north.

Increasing Income and Rewards
After the promised reward from the Loan Shark (regardless of whether Geralt subsequently kills Morkvarg), Geralt will receive an additional 50 experience, the silver sword Deytven - a rare but completely useless weapon and a recipe for werewolf decoction.
To maximize Geralt's return on this quest, do not turn the quest into Josta immediately after discovering the location of Morkvarg's treasure. Instead, go to the Loan Shark, secure Geralt's earnings there, and return to Josta. Geralt will still receive 50 experience and 85 crowns from her.
So in terms of earning Geralt for this quest, the best way is to reason with Einar and lift Morkvarg's curse for 80 XP, and then forego killing him to get another 80 XP and the location of the treasure. Pick up the treasure in Novigrad and you'll receive another 50 experience, a new decoction formula, and a sword that can be sold for around 60 crowns. Finally, return to Josta in Larvik to receive her reward of 50 experience and 85 crowns. This increases Geralt's total earnings to 260 XP, a new alchemy formula, and 85 crowns, plus another 60 if you sell Deithwen's sword.
Monetary compensation for such witcher work is noticeably low. However, the overall payout doesn't stink compared to how poorly Geralt was paid in the past.
And again Thordar
Now let's take a closer look at how to bring Tordar to clean water and get that same fang. Here are the available dialogue options:
- “You lied to me” - after these words, another fork awaits the player. Thordar will begin to threaten Geralt with acquaintance with the swords of the warriors.
- “I’ll be glad to meet you” is a path that cuts off the possibility of returning Morkvarg to his former appearance.
- “We have no need to fight” - this is where Thordar will tell you that it was not the priestess who cursed his former boss, but Thordar himself, who scratched him with an enchanted fang. At the same time, it turns out that this amulet is capable of removing curses.
- “Do it for the sake of the priestesses ” - a peaceful way to get the fang, Thordar will give it so that the priestesses can reclaim the grove and ask Geralt to deal with the killer.
- “Give it back” - if the player can’t bear to fight, then you can choose this option (only you already know how to remove the curse!), kill Thordar and take the desired item.
Having received the fang one way or another, it’s time to end the story of the monster that captured the grove.
Grove
It's time to return to Freya's grove. If this is the first visit, the player will see a cutscene with a hungry animal, unable to get food.
The locked main gate forces Geralt to find a way around it. It can be found to the left of the gate, in the form of a stone staircase.
Having climbed it and moved a little along the wall, the player will find a bridge, crossing which the protagonist will find himself in a grove. A wooden house will be visible from the bridge. It is worth remembering its location - there is a chance that Geralt will have to go there later.
There are wolves in the grove! They are, of course, not Morkvarg, but they can also add problems.
Traces of the werewolf can be found at the gate. The player should follow them. On the way you will have to climb on roofs and ditches, but this part of the path will not present any particular difficulties. Not far from the system for draining water from the ditch you will find a stone cave - Morkvarg's lair.
The cutscene will show the player a depressing picture - a monster talking with the expectedly silent skull, which was once called Ramund. And he, according to Morkvarg, is to blame for the loss of the key to the common house. Having finished the conversation, Morkvarg will turn his attention to Geralt and attack.
In the battle with the werewolf, it is most effective to use the Igni sign and the Moon Dust bomb!
Morkvarg will come down to the conversation after he has 20 - 30% HP . Geralt has the following options:
- "Don't like being a werewolf?" - after this remark, the monster will tell about his difficult fate - he cannot even eat his own flesh. For help in getting rid of the curse, Morkvarg promises Geralt a reward.
- “You spoke about a reward” - the wolf will not say any specifics, but will promise his “ultimate value.”
- Feeding Morkvarg is a useless option at the first meeting. Ordinary food will become ashes, just as the monster said.
- Finish off Morkvarg - everything is clear here without much explanation. The death of the creature will not be final. Morkvarg's corpse will disappear, and it is important for Geralt not to forget to pick up the quest item - werewolf meat.
- “Goodbye” - the monster will disappear, and the witcher will need to do exactly the same as if he had finished it off.
Left alone and having picked up all the loot, it’s time to look around. The player must use his Witcher Senses - this will reveal a crack in the floor and a cave. It is there that the key mentioned by Morkvarg will later be found.
Before the patch, there was a bug in the game that broke one of the quest branches. There was no drop out of the werewolf here, including meat. Fortunately, the error has been fixed.
Thordar
You can find Thordar at the pier in Larvik . The man can complement Josta's story well, since he is one of the few survivors of the massacre perpetrated by Morkvarg.
At first he will try to pass himself off as a pilgrim, but if Geralt has already visited the house in Gindar Grove and read Morkvarg's diary, then Thordar will not succeed.
In fact, the man is not exactly a victim. He is a former member of Morkvarg's gang. Seeing how he cut the throats of the bound priestesses, Thordar could not stand it and, using an enchanted fang given by his father, cursed the bastard . The witcher can persuade him to give up the fang or take it by force.
Also here Geralt learns 2 more details of the attack: that Morkvarg, having turned, killed his warriors and that the bodies of all his victims turned to dust.
Now the hero knows that the curse was double.
Current colors
The colors of the models are presented in a wide natural palette. There are dozens of shades of natural wolf fur: white, black, gray, smoky, red, bright ocher, and even cream and silver. All fashionable colors have a zonal color - there are up to 5 stripes on the skin with different tints.
Designers use natural patterns in their natural form; they also use the technique of tinting individual parts of the skin. Exotic color - color of the Buanzu (Himalayan) wolf. The animal is rare and endangered. The fur of the Buanzu wolf is red.
How to get to Morkvarg's cave
Morgvarg mentioned a common house in a conversation with the skull.
It was him that the witcher saw from the bridge. But to get there you need to get the missing key. First you will need to go to the levers that release water from the ditch and use the right one . Noticing that the right block is sticking out from the wooden structure standing on the ground, we pull the left one.
After this, Geralt needs to jump into the water and swim to the cave. The key will be found next to the pile of bones. Then the witcher’s path lies to the common house.
How much does a wolf fur coat cost?
Wolf fur demonstrates an excellent combination of price and quality. Fur products of high practicality and aesthetics are available even for a modest budget. The price starts from 40,000 rubles. The most expensive models made from Arctic wolf cost from 170,000 rubles.
If a fur coat is suspiciously cheap, you should pay attention to the quality. There are many “handicraft” options on sale at a reasonable price, but of poor quality. There are often cases when sellers pass off dog skins as wolf fur.
What wolf fur coats are in fashion?
The variety of models is huge, there are interesting male and female options. The cut is different, wool allows you to create any designer styles and models, except for drapery or large flares, due to the length of the pile. This season, loose-fitting short fur coats are at the peak of popularity. Due to the volume and fluffiness of the fur, they look bright and original. Fashionable women's fur coats are complemented with short sleeves, which is very original. Hands are dressed in long gloves and given freedom of movement. The midi wolf coat is less popular due to its significant weight. The designers decided to increase the popularity of such models using a combination of fur and leather inserts. Visually, outerwear is lighter and more comfortable to wear.
Kill Morkvarg in The Witcher 3
And here it is - a fork. If the player has already decided for himself that helping Morkvarg is not in his plans, now is the time to act. Need to:
- Conduct meditation at the entrance to the cave. We'll have to wait until dawn.
- Return to the cave and fight the monster in the same way as the day before.
- When Morkvarg decides to talk, feed him. And not just anything, but werewolf meat.
Having eaten its own flesh, the creature will disappear. Geralt will receive the Salmian Brigantine. All that remains is to return to Jost for the reward.
If it is decided to disenchant Morkvarg, then Geralt’s path continues.
How to choose and what to wear with?
Since wolves are not kept in captivity for the production of fur coats, the creation of each product is due to hunting. Experts in the field of fur dressing note that “wild” furs are very different from the rest - they are much more difficult to process, their dressing takes longer and requires special skill. Consequently, an inexperienced craftsman is unlikely to produce high-quality fur .
How not to buy a fake : When choosing a place to buy, you should prefer boutiques specialized in wild fur - this way you are more likely to get a quality product. Before choosing, you need to make sure that the seams are not rough and the fur does not have any foreign odors.
Wolf fur coats are versatile and will perfectly complement any look. This fur coat offers comfort and convenience, so it goes well with comfortable flat shoes and trousers. Short models of women's fur coats look great with tight-fitting trousers, and can also complete a festive look with an evening dress.

Josta
After the quest is accepted, the moment comes to talk with Yosta, if the player did not receive the task from her.
If she was the quest giver, then you should just continue the conversation already started. Josta will tell Geralt that Morkvarg was once a headache for almost the entire Skellige because of his violent temper. He paid for it - once attacking Freya's Grove, the man mortally wounded the high priestess, Ulva, who was trying to stop him. She, dying, cursed the bandit, turning him into a werewolf monster unable to leave the grove. True, he did not cause fewer problems, and all attempts to kill the beast resulted in him rising from the dead . So Josta is ready to pay the witcher handsomely to get rid of Morkvarg.
It is in this conversation that the player first encounters the fact that the quest can have 2 outcomes. The werewolf can be killed, or he can be made human again.
If the player prefers the second option, then it’s worth asking Josta better by choosing “Who is Morkvarg?” This way Geralt will get a lead on the next witness - Thordar, the son of Einar.
