The history of the plant goes back to the distant 1909 - at that time it was just small fur processing workshops. Sixty-six years later, in 1975, this enterprise was given the status of a unitary enterprise, as well as the official name - “Vitebsk Fur Factory”. Already in 1976, new production sites began to be created, designed for the highest quality processing of such popular types of fur as mink, arctic fox, sable, silver-black fox, marten, and astrakhan fur. At the same time, the company began sewing high-quality products from tanned skins.

In Vitebsk, the outgoing year was marked by a significant event: after three years of reconstruction, a fur factory was inaugurated. It is symbolic that the modernization of production was completed on the eve of November 7.

The revived plant, which has no analogues either in Russia or in Ukraine, is an example of the successful functioning of the public-private partnership system. The new owner, Marko Holding, invested about $24 million in the modernization and expansion of production.
Almost nothing remains of the old Vitebsk Fur Factory, only the conventional frames of the production and household buildings. We built two warehouses, treatment facilities, a boiler room, and changed the entire infrastructure and communications. As noted at the plant, at the moment the emphasis is on flexible production focused on market demands:
The technical base has been updated. The most advanced equipment was purchased. Machines from Italy and Turkey are used for fur dressing. The sewing workshop is equipped with high-quality equipment from famous German, Japanese, Greek and Italian companies.

Andrey Timoshkin, director of JSC Minskagroprommash Plant: It’s interesting to remember my youth, where my career began. Initially, I graduated from the Mogilev Mechanical Engineering Institute with a degree in Design and Production of Vehicles. Simply put, a car designer. And then he was assigned to Belkommunmash. That complex technique with which my development as an industrialist, a production worker, a person who organized production processes began. That technique played a significant role and taught me a lot. Fate destined me to end up in a new workshop, with a completely new vision of city electric transport. Then we were engaged in promising developments of new trams and trolleybuses. I reached the position of head of the experimental site, the young man was interested in this. Accordingly, I learned a lot - new technologies, organizational matters.
Olga Korshun: You have already touched on the topic that you graduated from the Mogilev Mechanical Engineering Institute in 1999. It was a difficult time for our country, for the economy of our country. What was going on in mechanical engineering then?
Andrey Timoshkin: By that time, we had brought order to the enterprises and laid the foundation for today’s complex, high-tech, high-quality mechanical engineering, which is known all over the world. Then, as a young man, I saw this, joined forces with the same people who were engaged in this profession, and learned a lot from them, because I have no contact with many of them in life, and many still work. These are the production workers with whom I had to work, they are also my teachers in many ways, so that’s when it all began. Now there is a good result. Mechanical engineering is a high-tech industry today, with all things going on, you can talk about anything: from microelectronics to the big BelAZ. And all this needs people who know the technology, the work, and can organize it.
